For the 7th day of the 7th month, show us 7 of something - OR - something lucky.
Paper Cranes are notorious good luck charms, but opals are associated with misfortune. That doesn't change the fact that I like opals, however. The charm is black stone with raw opal stuck within it. I even lucked out with some flecks of rare red opal.
I wear this necklace every day, but I can't say that it has changed my luck at all.
Show us something you can't explain.
I don't try to remember all my unborn ideas, photographs, and knitting projects. And what of the unborn bumblebees, brick walls, ceramic jars, and pocketwatches? Why is there a statue to commemorate other conglomerations of atoms that never bounded successfully into molecules that could fend for themselves?
In honor of Independence Day, show us something patriotic.
I do not like wars. Plastering vehicles in propaganda slogans seems hollow. I no longer have faith in anybody in charge. I see the detour my country has taken, and the prospect fills me with sorrow.
But there are things that still make America great, and they will never go away. Text is permanent when scorched into the brains of those who appreciate it.
Show us something cold.
I took this on my birthday, which is toward the end of January and squarely in the Capricorn-Aquarius cusp. I kind of like where the twenty-second of January is situated. It's one of those unforgiving dates that nobody should really be born on. There's something about it that drives its citizens to great heights of madness: Lord Byron, Gregori Rasputin, Francis Bacon, and a bunch of other notably crazy people. I fit right in.
Show us one of the world's great mysteries that you're dying to hear the explanation for.
This book has made me think differently about the things I know. For instance, that the structure of the brain itself is a sort of mottled film that produces function under the the careful prodding of particular stimulation. Also, there's the idea that the whole universe is set up that way. It gives way to the thought that nothing is exactly real, or rather, we create our own realities. This not only touches upon Einsteinian theory, but the concept that has been present throughout religions since the dawn of civilization, and perhaps even before.
The Holographic Theory is certainly compelling, and I'm willing to sign up for a few tenants of it. Actually, contemplating it has been consuming a lot of my time lately. I'm sure there's no way to definitively prove it at this time, but it does make a lot of sense.

Although I should add Gogol Bordello's new album because I have literally been unable to frown all day. That's certainly something that is a change from my normal life.
Show us something to look forward to.
Well, Vox, I'm sure glad you asked me this. Lookie what I got today:
Yes, Vox, I know they're from TicketMaster, and before you start bitching at me, may I remind you that you're simply a blogging platform? Therefore, YOU CANNOT JUDGE ME, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY!1 And I should also point out the fact that Cleveland is an hour and a half away, so being told once I reached the venue that the show was sold out would be disastrous. Kind of like the time I went to the Laga in Pittsburgh for that Dropkick Murphys show that was overrun by fratties and had no resulting room for me, so I slipped on the ice, cracked the back of my head on the sidewalk, and went to Dee's Cafe to drink away my concussion. Yeah, I know all about the sweltering July weather, but a girl can never be too careful.
1The same goes for you, too, LJ.
Show us something that says "security".

Don't laugh. I've had this since I came home from the hospital. In fact, it still resides in a drawer in my nightstand. Though I rarely take it out, I would be devastated if anything were to ever happen to it.
My blanket has been through it all -- family vacations, my little sister, several painstaking surgeries by Grandma Alice to stitch Blanket up -- and has somehow managed to remain faithful through all these years.
Show us some origami.
I just folded this in about five seconds and using some Miss Piggy notepaper I keep scattered around my desk. But, here you go, Mr. Vox Hunt:
Show us your album cover.

Alas! The cover of our EP is on Sam's computer, and he never posted it on our Myspace(s)!
Here's my favorite picture of us instead. This was taken at our first show ever.
